Top Employer 2019

Covestro is a great place to work

What a pleasant piece of news at the end of the year! All over the world, external surveys put Covestro into the ranks of “great employers” for 2019. Congratulations to the colleagues in Brazil, China, Germany, India and Mexico!

At various locations worldwide, external surveys put Covestro into the ranks of “great employers” for 2019. Whether they rate Covestro as “Great Place to Work”, “Top Employer”, or Top Company, the best thing about such rankings is that they are not based on assumptions, beliefs, or hearsay. In fact, the only thing they are based on is the objective feedback of those who know the company best: the Covestro employees.

All over the world, they participated in great score in these surveys – with a record breaking 97% in Mexico. “All in all, we came out as the Number 1 ‘Top Company’ in 10 of the 17 categories,” says Mexican HR manager Antonio Bello. “Among our staff’s most valued items are leadership style, professional growth, Diversity & Inclusion, CSR, and work safety. These results show that our leaders really walk the talk and promote our company culture at all levels in the organization.”

Great Place to Work

While the “Top Company” is a national recognition sponsored by one of the biggest Mexican Business Magazines, the “Great Place to Work” certification (GPTW) is a global standard for great workplace cultures. In Brazil and in India, more than 80% of the staff participated in the audit and earned Covestro the coveted distinction. Employees of both countries appreciate Covestro’s strategy, culture, compensations & benefits, working conditions, respect, trust and people focus.

Brazil’s HR Head Adriana Monaco is delighted about the distinction and highlights its value: “Being a GPTW-certified company gives Covestro visibility among our customers, prospects, suppliers and partners who value socially engaged, ethical brands that are recognized by awards and certifications. Internally, it enhances a sense of belonging and pride to be part of a great company.” Her Indian colleague, HR Head Ricky Kumar, emphasizes the benefits in the critical area of employer branding: “To attract a diverse workforce, it is imperative that we continue to build on our legacy brand and our new Covestro brand. The GPTW certification provides us with the right exposure and places us appropriately in the market.”

“Top Employer” and VAA Award

The global “Top Employers” Institute recognizes excellence in people practices, and Covestro China certified for the second year in a row with its “people-first” HR policy. China’s HR Head Lesley Lin highlights what makes Covestro so attractive to its employees: “We are recognized as an employer who is people-caring, responsible and innovative. Our employees love to work here as we provide diversified learning and development opportunity, first-class work environment and comprehensive well-being initiatives.” In Germany, Covestro ranked Number 1 in the VAA industry pulse check for the second time in a row. “This award perfectly reflects what I recognized myself in my first four month now working at Covestro”, says Christiane Warmuth, Head of Employer Branding and Recruiting in Germany. “A warm and welcoming working atmosphere on all levels as well as an Start-Up mentality inside a huge corporate company – that´s a fantastic combination.. HR manager Helge Kroll’s comment is short and to the point: “We were rated best. You can’t get a more powerful statement!”

“Receiving these recognitions around the globe makes me very proud” says Sophie von Saldern, Head of People and Culture, “because it shows that our new culture inspires our employees to do their best. It is the result of daily contributions and efforts of all of our colleagues and I am especially thankful that these behaviors will help us to attract the best talents.” While all national HR teams are proud of the results, Covestro also takes the surveys as an impulse to get even better.
